Joe Rein trained at Stillman's Gym in New York in the late 1940s and '50s. He fought at the University of Miami, for Angelo Dundee's 5th St. Gym, and in the U.S. Army. In the '70s and '80s, he sponsored an amateur team with trainer Tommy Gallagher that won New York Golden Gloves championships. Rein is a 2005 CJ Award winner for the best in boxing journalism, a member of the Boxing Writers Association of America and has an essay in the book "Shadow Boxers," and stories in "Bouncers." He's written for FightNews, Eastside Boxing, Irish Boxing, The Sweet Science and CyberBoxingZone. In 2003, he became the Executive Editor of FightBeat.com. Rein was a TV commercial producer and taught at UCLA.

Sadly, Joe passed away in 2013. His family will keep his website and writings up for all of you who admired and cherished his work as much as we do.
